The Law of Compensation Print E-mail

This is an excerpt from the powerful book Working with the Law: 11 Truth Principles for Successful Living written by Raymond Holliwell.

The author uses the words "Law" and "God" interchangeably. Use whatever word you are most comfortable with. My personal preference is to use "Universe".  I’d like to remind you that this is a non-denominational site.

* * *

Some people believe that the world owes them a living, and that they are entitled to something for nothing. Others believe it is holy to be poor during this lifetime, only to receive their due riches once they reach Heaven. Neither of these statements is true, once you understand the Law and its proper application.

The Law of Compensation states that only what is rightfully ours will come to us. If we work hard, yet do not see the just rewards, it is only because we are not applying the Law correctly. The Law is as reliable as hard science and math—it works the same way every single time. The supply and the possibility is always the same, and it is our job to use the Law appropriately in order to improve our condition.

Your rightful condition is one of success and plenty. Your failure to realize these things is a miscalculation on your part. Once you correct your application of the Law, then your conditions will follow. And the way to change the application of the Law is through your thoughts.

Some people are born into difficult conditions, yet because they never changed their mind about those conditions, they remained in the same all of their lives. All it takes is to change your mind, and then your conditions can improve.

Whenever you take on a task, you should do the very best work you are capable of doing. By becoming better, you draw to yourself bigger and better opportunities. And in order to keep your earnings, you must have earned them with an equal effort to value returned—otherwise you will lose them. The way the Law works, a person who becomes greater is bound to attract greater things, like water seeking its own true level. This is the basis of growth, development, progress, and evolution.

“Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Any difficulties in your life are not to be blamed on outer conditions or other people. The Law is not at fault; it is you who are not applying the Law correctly. Readjust your ideas, for they are creating your conditions.

If you attract something unpleasant, it is often because some neglected part of your nature needs to be awakened and developed. It also offers you an experience to learn, and to then create something better in your life. Use your life experiences constructively, because the Law of Attraction will only bring what will serve you in your upward development. So use it wisely. Whatever we attract we require, and whatever we need is always good. So all experience is for our own good, if we will only see it in that light.

Learn to think constructively of all around you, and see them in their best possible light. By doing so, you will gradually transform your entire existence, and thus you will promote your own welfare. As you look for the good, you will move towards the good. This does not mean that you ignore the bad things you see, but instead you learn to look beyond them to the inevitable good inside of everything and everyone. And this in turn will bring out the best in you.

“Whatever we possess today is our just reward.” Be extremely careful with your thoughts and your words. If you say money is scarce, simply by saying that you will send money away from you. If you say you are not loved, love will run away from you. Your words and your thoughts are the most powerful tools you own. Foster positive ones and you will experience the rewards.

Universal supply is never depleted. Only you are, if you are careless with your words and thoughts. Spend the energy of your mind on thoughts of health, plenty, love, and happiness, and they, in turn, will appear. If you want something better for yourself, make the one you have as nice as you can. If you want a new set of furniture, do not belittle the one you have, enjoy it to the fullest. Keep your home neat and tidy, if you wish to have a better one.

Your failure to meet your demands of life is not a failure of the Law, it’s a failure within yourself to know and follow the Law. The Law will not adjust to you; you must adjust to It. And It will always be there for you, unfailingly.

Do not expect overnight results when working with the Law. It takes time, and is a step-by-step process of understanding. And each step will bring you ever closer to your goal.

If you expect something for nothing, you are violating the Law. Your returns will never be satisfactory if you do. You must be willing to pay your way, wherever you go. Also if you are a cheap bargain hunter, you are violating the Law. You may have gained monetarily, but you will lose in other ways. You will effectively lower your vibration, limit your thoughts, and encourage dishonesty in the seller (because he will inevitably make up his profit elsewhere). You become a party to the violation and you become penalized as well as the others.

Do not begrudge paying your bills or spending money. Release it happily and freely, even if it’s the last dollar you own. Then you are complying with the Law, and more will come back to you freely. Do not hang onto your last dollar out of fear there will be no more. Release it cheerfully, and you will discover the true Source of supply.

If you misuse the Laws of harmony, health, or supply, the Law of Compensation becomes manifest in your life. You will reap the rewards of what you sow. If you are dissatisfied with your returns, take a good look at your investments and change them accordingly to produce something you prefer. Only your own can come to you. It is nobody else’s responsibility but your own to use this Law wisely.
