I went camping this weekend at Mono Hot Springs wherein I learned from my self the greatest lesson so far. I had a spiritual experience in a hot spring during the moon setting.  I won't go into the details of how I came to learn this lesson as those are worthy of their own book, but I can say that I finally understand what all this is really about for me.

That everything I've ever learned, that everything I've ever desired, that everything I've ever experienced has hinged on, has amounted to, has been trying to teach me this one simple yet incredibly profound fact.

People try to tell me this in different ways. I try to tell myself this through the events I've attracted. My rational mind tries to take the long way through planning, uninspired action, and expectations.

This process cannot work for you if you don't love yourself. And I didn't love myself, maybe my whole life. My love was conditional. If I did X then I could let a little love out for myself. If I became rich, if I met an exceptional woman, if I gained status, attention, fame, skills, etc. etc. etc. If I could focus on the law of attraction ENOUGH to make it work for me. And I would continue to sabotage myself.

Because the universe is love. Friends have told me in the past, "How could you expect someone to love you if you don't love yourself?" and it didn't sink in. I thought I did love myself. I practiced the emotion of love, of gratitude, of contentedness, for my life, for the external things - my house, my car, my friends. I kept trying to see all the good things in all of these things - but not in me. Never for me. I didn't believe I knew what love was. I thought I wouldn't find out until I found somebody.

But we are all hardwired with love. We are beings conceived of and nurtured in love. And before I sound too soap-boxy, I want to say how easy this is. I just looked in the mirror (or rather the hot springs reflection against the bright moonlight) and said, "I love you, Chris." And then I said it again. And every time it became easier and more genuine. I even moved up to eskimo kisses in the reflection.

That was 3 days ago. And now every time I think of it, I tell myself that I love myself. Every time I look in the mirror, instead of thinking, "My hair could look better, my eyes look ragged, my smile could never cover a magazine," I just say simply, "I love you." And I believe that my life is truly about learning to love myself as deeply as possible. In as many ways as possible. Dancing, singing, napping, anything that communicates your love to yourself. I believe this is the practice that Spirit Sings refers to.

Abraham talks about raising vibrations. There's nothing that raises my vibrations faster than giving love to myself. Lynn Grabhorn talks about opening your valve. Our gift as humans is our ability to love. The valve opens when you love yourself and it can't help but pour out into the world. The Universe of Power talks about letting go of expectations. Expectations are the dominion of the unloved.

For me gratitude, acceptance, satisfaction, joy, excitement, pleasure, security, wealth, romance - are all colors of the brilliant white of love. They all contribute to the same emotion. They all come from inside. I thought about every desire I believe I wanted, and they all boiled down to being loved. And I already have that power.

My choice is to love myself no matter what, and everything out there - finances, romance, travel, adventure, pleasure - will take care of themselves. This is truly how to let the universe do my job. All that it asks is that you love yourself, for that is what you're here to do.

And I can't thank everyone here enough at The Universe of Power for aiding me in this breakthrough. Loving myself has truly been a life's journey. This is not a quick fix. This is not a way to get rich. This is not a way to manipulate the universe. This is a way to BE. From now on, this is my focus. This is my life's lesson. And I can't wait to become a master. I can't wait to see what lies ahead.

I hope for you reading this that it has given you something, some piece/peace to the journey you're on. And let me assure you for those who are feeling set back, this could be the most important thing you ever do for yourself. Every one of you is worth the most unimaginable depths of love you could lavish upon yourself.
