The recent movie The Secret opens with a story about the suppression of this incredibly valuable information. They say that the information was hidden, used by the rulers of ancient times to get whatever they wanted, and was kept secret from the common folks for centuries.
Imagine that you've uncovered information that would completely reshape the current political system in the United States. This information is so powerful that all who are in possession of it could soon control the entire country, and perhaps the world. What do you think would happen?
Heads of industry would seek you out for themselves. You'd receive death threats and offered "protection" from powerful sources, in exchange for your information.
Such is the power of the information revealed in The Secret movie. Ancients knew of this "Law of Attraction" long before the information was revealed to others. It wasn't until the late 19th century and early 20th century that the Law of Attraction and The Secret were revealed to wider audiences.
Why The Secret Was Kept Hidden
Before then, The Secretwas withheld, in part because the information was too powerful, and in part because the reasons why the Law of Attraction works were not understood. This law was so universally true that people couldn't help but consider it from a spiritual or religious perspective. Making it into a science was not possible, so religious and political leaders of the time were afraid of what could happen if the masses discovered The Secret for themselves.
In the late 19th century, philosophers and some business people began writing about these principles. William James reflected on The Secret, and wrote about the principles from a psychological viewpoint. He was one of the first to claim that we can alter our situations through the power of our minds when he said, "Human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind."
Around the same time, James Allen was writing As a Man Thinketh, which also revealed that you can alter your circumstances by altering how you think. He called this "The Strangest Secret." The secret, he said, is "we become what we think about."
The Law of Attraction Becomes Public
This incredibly powerful information was made public, but few listened. William James said that one of the hardest things for any person to do is to think the way they want to think, regardless of external circumstances. That could explain why so few people were open to these ideas.
Around the same time, a man named Wallace D. Wattles wrote The Science of Getting Rich, in which he laid out a specific formula and process for using The Secret Law of Attraction to become wealthy. He said in his book that no man (or woman) can fail, if he or she simply follows the guidelines in his book.
Many people have become multi-millionaires as a result of using the information in Wattles' and Allen's books. Bob Proctor loves The Science of Getting Rich so much that he created his entire coaching empire around the book.
Various other authors have written about the Law of Attraction, trying to reveal The Secret to more people, since Wattles wrote his book. Catherine Ponder has written about the Law of Attraction extensively, although she used different language. Genevieve Behrend, and her mentor Thomas Troward, both wrote extensively about The Secret around the turn of the last century.
Yet, it has only been recently that these principles have become more popularly discussed. Why is that?
I believe that we simply haven't been ready, and that until just recently, there was no scientific evidence to take this knowledge out of the realm of philosophy and into the "rational" world.

What this means for you is that you can NOW consciously create your future, regardless of your current experiences or current situation, and regardless of your past!
Simply by altering how and what you think, focusing your attention on that which you most desire, and taking consistent and inspired action toward what you desire, you will get what you want, and much more.

I can't emphasize enough how well this works. Those who apply these principles in their lives on a daily basis see the results. It couldn't be more simple.
But, few will watch The Secret and do as the teachers say, only because they don't have the support to make the necessary changes. The unfortunate truth is that you will likely be pulled back into old ways of thinking by your family, peers, co-workers, and even perhaps some friends. They'll likely question your judgment, call you "woo-woo", and try to convince you that this stuff is all bogus the first time you fail to attract what you want.
If this should happen, just ignore them. You can, and you will manifest what you want.
The Secret is a wonderful film. It shows you what is possible, and reveals the truth behind the Law of Attraction from both a practical and scientific perspective.
What they can't possibly do in a 90-minute film is show you HOW to incorporate these principles into your life on a daily basis, and how to plow through the resistance in your own mind as well as the resistance you may feel from others.
