Do you find yourself fretting about money on a daily basis? Do you feel like you never have enough? Or, do you have barely enough to survive, but not enough to feel “comfortable”?
I used to worry about money constantly, even when my husband Ron was pulling a nice salary from his Wall Street job. No matter how much more money came in, it always seemed like even more was going out. Then when he left his job the challenge became even greater. Fortunately, we had some savings, but they certainly wouldn’t have sustained us for very long. At the same time I began to examine my beliefs about money, because I knew that if I didn’t, we would soon run out. Ron has always had an easy freedom about money, and has always been very generous with it. So he taught me a lot about the idea of opening up your fist to let it go, so that more would come in. As I reflect on this now, perhaps it was his beliefs which kept money flowing in, but my scarcity beliefs which kept it from sticking around very long. Mind you, I’ve never been a big spender in the traditional shopping sense – I just bought horses, a few paintings, an old piano, and adopted more than enough animals to fill a small zoo. So animal supplies and veterinary costs are probably my biggest expenditure. Ron has his own little aquatic zoo, with five salt water fish tanks and now a new fresh water tank. So given that we weren’t big spenders, it never made sense to me why we always seemed a little short on funds and always in debt. We always got by, but we never had any “extra”, so we were constantly left “wanting”. Once I started learning about limiting beliefs, and the Law of Attraction, suddenly it all made perfect sense. Since that time, I have been shedding my negative beliefs about money, about deserving wealth, and especially my worry about money. What a huge relief! Now I know that we will always have more than enough to get by. And for those of you who are struggling with this kind of stress and worry, I’d like to help you get beyond those awful feelings too. So Where Do I Start?First, I would suggest that you take a good honest look at your current situation. Sit quietly for a few minutes, and ask yourself these questions: “At this exact moment, do I have everything I need? Do I have shelter and food for myself and my family? Are my children healthy? Are our needs being met right at this moment?” It’s likely that the answer to these questions is “Yes”. Have your worst fears come to pass yet? Most likely, the answer to that is “No”. And it’s always possible that they never will. So if this is the case, realize that you are actually doing okay right now, in this moment. Your needs are met, and that’s all that really matters—at any given time. Whenever you find yourself worrying about money, immediately catch yourself and ask those questions again. You will soon find that you are worrying for likely no good reason at all – and it’s just a waste of your precious energy that you could be using in far more productive ways, such as attracting more wealth and inner peace. The truth is that your life can change at a moment’s notice. People can wake up poor, and go to sleep a millionaire. It’s called the lotto. People can wake up a millionaire and go to sleep broke. It’s called the stock market. ~ Carolyn Myss, Advanced Energy Anatomy We often fall prey to the “What if?” scenarios that haven’t yet happened, especially when things appear bleak. But this thought process can be our worst enemy. When these worrisome thoughts arise, it’s really important to stop, and think about whether they have in fact occurred. Usually, they’re just a fear of something that might happen some day – therefore they have no place whatsoever in your reality at this moment. In fact, if anything, they are perpetuating your difficult situation. If you want to play the “what if” game, instead of thinking, “What if this turns out to be a disaster?” try this version instead: “What if I could have everything I want?” “What if all the steps and answers always come to me, exactly when I need them?” “What if whatever I conceive, I really can achieve?” “What if all the stories I’ve told myself about my limitations are big, fat lies, and I really am limitless, creative consciousness?”
Now What?It all starts in your thinking. That’s because what you think about most is what you will create as your “reality”. Think back to two months, or even six months ago for a moment. Do you remember what thoughts dominated your mind? Is it possible that you were spending a lot of time worried about the future? Did the “future” that you worried about come true? If so, that’s no accident. This is the true power of your thoughts. If you were focusing most of your thoughts on worrying about money, you’ve actually sent out a “request” to the universe to attract even more money worries to you. You ask, and it responds in kind, good or bad. The key is to watch your thoughts, and when any negative ones show up, immediately catch them and change them to their exact opposite. For example, if you find yourself thinking, “Why do I never seem to have enough money?” you will want to immediately change it to, “I am so happy and grateful NOW THAT I have plenty of money coming in every single month to support myself and my family!” Even if you’re not yet feeling grateful, that’s a good, relatively easy start that your mind won’t immediately reject as ridiculous. Your new thoughts will need to be within the realm of possibilities, as far as your current mindset is concerned. (Baby steps!) So you don’t want to start with thoughts like, “I am so happy and grateful now that I run a $100 million business and have my own Lear Jet!”, if these seem unfathomable at the moment. Then over time, you’ll want to become more assertive, such as “I am so happy and grateful NOW THAT I have an extra $5,000 (or $10,000 or more) coming in every single month!” We’ll talk more about why you’ll want to express gratitude shortly. Here’s an example of how I changed my thinking, with powerful results: I used to believe money always came “just in the nick of time”. And guess what? It did! At some point I realized this no longer served me (by causing me too much stress and anxiety). So I decided that from this point forward, money would come before the nick of time. (There was nothing else I did differently.) Starting at that moment, and ever since, it has! And I have no doubt this will always be the case. Mind you, it’s not always that easy to transform a limiting belief . But this example shows you just how powerful our thoughts can be, whether we’re focusing on positive or negative ones. Over time, you’ll become accustomed to fostering more positive thoughts, which will equate to a far better “reality”. Read more about how Thoughts Become Things. The Truth Is…You are a remarkable being made up of pure energy, capable of doing and having whatever you set your mind to. This may be difficult to believe, but isn’t it worth considering the possibility, in order to alleviate your stress and worry? And, by learning how to apply the principles we teach, not only will your money worries go away, but you can become exactly as wealthy as you wish. It’s all up to you, and what you’re thinking. You are already playing a big role in what happens to you. Most likely, you’ve been completely unaware of what you’ve been doing, and that’s perfectly fine – you’re right where most people are. This is not a judgment – I was clueless for decades! We are all creating our reality all of the time, but most of us are doing it unconsciously. So if it’s that simple, why not learn to do it consciously by focusing on the things we want, instead of those that we don’t? If this idea of “creating your reality” is new to you, it might take some time to really get your mind around. One thing you need to be clear on is that creating your reality doesn’t mean you automatically create what you want; it means you create what you focus on. Meaning, what you put your attention on. We all have many things that we don’t want in our lives. The process of learning to create is to learn to be more conscious about this and to make what we want and what we focus on come into alignment. If you’re having money troubles and all you can think about is your debt and your empty wallet, that’s where your focus is, on your lack. If you’re in a bad relationship and you talk to all your friends about how awful he/she is and what went wrong this time, that’s where your focus is. Learn to see what is going through your mind; where are your thoughts? It will become clearer as you do this. Pick a thing in your life that you don’t want and ask yourself, Do I think about this often? Do I talk to other people about it? Do I reinforce this in some way? What decisions do I make that are based on my acceptance of this thing as a fact of my life that I can’t change? One of the pitfalls of the idea that we create our reality is a massive feeling of guilt for those “bad” things that happened. But understanding this process will take away that guilt—you didn’t create it because you wanted it, you created it out of an unconscious process which told you that you had no choice. By looking at the process and how it works, you can begin to make your choices, desires and creations come into alignment, and create the reality that you want, not the one you’ve been conditioned by your subconscious beliefs to create. Stick around for a while, and you’ll no doubt pick up some tips on how to consciously create a better life, at no charge. Here’s a little secret that most people don’t know about…. If you will do your part, the Universe will do its part. It will collaborate with you, and it will contribute its vast energy to help you! It will bring the right people, the right opportunities, and the right events to you, at exactly the right time that you need them in order to fulfill your dreams. But there are two catches…
Catch #1: You must do your part! And that means taking action every day towards your goal - even if it's a tiny action, like having a cup of coffee with an old friend who happens to know the exact person you need to meet, in order to help you further your goal. Catch #2: You must expect the Universe to do its part, and not rely solely upon yourself to do it all. Because if you don’t expect help from the Universe, you will not get its help in the way that you desire. If you try to do it all on your own, you will probably become frustrated and self-critical, and eventually convince yourself that you don't have what it takes to get it done. If you expect the Universe to help you, it will be inspired to act through you, and offer all of its vast resources to you. But only if you expect it to! That, my friend, is one of the best kept secrets in the entire Universe. |
Don’t get me wrong – if you choose to take this path, you will have to put in some time and effort on your own. This won’t happen automatically. The good news is that it’s probably going to be a little easier, and a lot more enjoyable, than you might think. And don’t worry, this is not about switching religions or switching Gods – our site is entirely non-denominational. It’s about proven techniques, backed by hard science, that will help you build and use your own innate power. Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson Okay, What Next?The next thing you’ll want to do to start feeling less stress and worry is to work on raising your energy vibrations. This may sound like a crazy idea, but there’s actually a scientific basis for this suggestion. And by raising your vibrations, in addition to feeling much better, you will also become a much more powerful “magnet” for attracting more of what you desire. So you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain, by learning how to do this. Please read this article, and then come right back here. One of the best ways to raise your vibrations is to express gratitude on a frequent basis. Spend some time every day focusing on all the things that you’re grateful for in your life, little or big. Be grateful for your children, your cat, your apartment, or even that hot cup of coffee you’re drinking right now. You will begin to notice a difference in about five minutes whenever you express gratitude for all the things you’re happy about in your life. And, you’ll attract even more of them to your life, simply by expressing gratitude for what you already have. Say the Gratitude Prayer at least five times a day over the next week, and you’ll see how much better you feel overall. You will soon incorporate this into a daily activity, especially during those times you may feel down. Next, Give Something Valuable AwayGraciously giving away something that you want more of is one of the most effective ways to get more of it. This works for anything: Money, love, affection, trust, etc. This may sound counterintuitive when you’re down to your last dollar, but when you look at things from an energetic perspective you will see that everything flows as energy. Money is a form of energy, as are gifts, and even we humans are energetic beings. So by giving something away, you are opening up the energy channels to allow more of it to flow back to you. Try this experiment: Give fifty cents, or a dollar, or a tasty homemade sandwich to a street musician who is providing beautiful music for everyone. This may seem difficult to you right now, just when you’re feeling so much lack in your life. But take a small leap of faith, try it with even fifty cents, and just watch and see what happens - especially inside of you, in your feelings, as you give that money or food away. But be sure it’s something you treasure – in the case of money, make it an amount that would make you slightly uncomfortable. A closed fist cannot accept anything new....so open your fist and let it flow. Try it every day for two weeks, fifty cents, a buck, or even $5 every day. Notice what happens, and how you feel, each time you do this. You may be surprised at what comes back to you either within the two weeks or shortly thereafter. See our article on Generosity. Exactly How Much Money Can I Attract?Society has most of us believing that we can only “earn” as much money as the hours we “put in”, but this is simply not the case. We can attract as much money as we BELIEVE we can attract, with no more effort or “hours” than we’re spending right now in our nine to five job. Look at some of the wealthiest people alive today. Let’s say a person makes $3 million a year, and you make $30,000. She makes 100 times what you do. Do you really think she works 100 times the hours? Nope. She’s probably off golfing twenty hours a week. “But they’re different from me…more gifted, more intelligent, and they have the right connections.” Nope, they were in diapers once too, puking and pooping just like you and I were. The ONLY difference between you and them is that they already understand the principles of conscious creation, and you are just now beginning to understand. Once you get it, there will be nothing stopping you from having $3 million a year in income too. This applies to any level of intelligence, aptitude, connections, or education. Spend some time thinking about your heroes. Think about what they have (innately) that you don’t have. Aside from having the brains of Einstein, or the height of a basketball star, generally most people start with the same exact qualities and potential to succeed. Everyone who is successful in some way started right where you did, they all fell down and got up again, and none of them was “born great”. Sure, some people have been born into a wealthy family. But if you think about it, how many of them have become truly incredible people, with accomplishments we should all admire? I would suggest that if anything, there are fewer people who have reached tremendous success who came from a wealthy family than those who came from poverty or middle class backgrounds. In fact, I can think of several people from extremely wealthy families who have so far done nothing productive with their lives. Of those who have succeeded (regardless of background), they had a dream, a vision, and a passion to pursue their dream. And eventually they achieved it. If you’re comparing yourself to Einstein, but you don’t think you have Einstein’s brain, choose something else to pursue besides quantum physics! There is no doubt that you have something special that can be catapulted into a very profitable income, it’s just a matter of identifying it, and then doing it. Yes, there is more to the story. But if you have the desire, the idea, and the commitment to get it done, there will be nothing stopping you. (Remember, the universe will help, so you don’t have to do it all yourself!) Also know that you will never have a burning desire for something that you don’t also have the ability to create. I’m about 5’1” tall, and I have never had the desire to be a basketball star. Sit quietly, and ask yourself, “What am I good at? What do I LOVE to do?” Wait for an answer to come. It will come, either right away or within a week or two. Then pursue any inspirations or ideas you receive to take action, even if they’re small ones. (See Connecting with Your Higher Self for more information on how to do this.) It could be writing an e-book and selling thousands of them it on the Internet. It could be opening a school for autistic children. It could be inventing the next “pet rock”. It could be anything. Be open to the possibilities. What Kind Of Life Do I WANT?The next step is to start thinking about what you really want in your life. And whatever you do, don’t dwell anymore on what you don’t want. Instead, let’s switch this thinking around to what you do want. Spend twenty minutes or more a day, thinking about this question: If I had all the money in the world, what would my ideal life look like? Think about all the details: What your home would be like, would it have a hot tub and/or a swimming pool, what kind of car you would be driving, what your days would be like, whether you would work or just play most of the time, compose music, write books, be a stock trader, work on a tuna boat, etc. Imagine the perfect life for yourself. I encourage you to read our articles about visualizing and about Positive Affirmations, and how both of these techniques can help you transform your life. Also see how to clearly define what you really want here. But I’m Having A Really Hard Time Believing… You may find these ideas hard to believe right now, either because they’re new to you or because your current circumstances suggest there is no reason to hope for anything being different in the future. I can understand – I’ve been there myself. You’re in a chicken and egg situation, actually. In order to have trust in this process, you probably feel a need to see some results in your life first. But you won’t see results until you have at least a little bit of trust and faith. So which would you rather have, more of the same, with little hope of improvement? Or putting your disbelief aside for just a few weeks, to see what happens when you take a tiny leap of faith? What do you have to lose? Believing is seeing!Once you begin to accept even the possibility that you have the power to change your life by changing your thoughts, and by changing the way you do things, you will start seeing little signs indicating that you’re on the right path. You will begin seeing what are called “synchronicities”, which you may think of as coincidences – but they actually aren’t. They are evidence that the universe is helping you along your way. For instance, you really want an extra $20 so that you can take your daughter to the movies this weekend, and to buy popcorn for the two of you. All of the sudden, an old friend repays a debt of $20 from a year ago. That’s a synchronicity! If you’re new to this, we recommend building up your belief muscles over time, starting with something relatively small that you really believe you can attract (but something you don’t already have). An extra $50, or tickets to a concert. Then when it seems to come out of nowhere, you will get a tiny bit of belief. You go for something slightly larger, and then when it appears, you get a little more trust. And so on, until you’re attracting millions of dollars or the 1,000-acre ranch out West, if that’s what you desire. Just reading it through once will most likely not change your life. Coping SkillsWhenever worrisome thoughts enter your mind, immediately switch to the Gratitude Prayer. If negative thoughts appear, figure out the exact opposite of them, and then focus on those instead. Find a way to go into nature and recognize how all of the universe’s creatures and plants are completely taken care of by the universe. Know that you are one of nature’s creatures, and that the universe will always take care of your needs, no matter what. Spend some time marveling at all the flora and fauna around you – what a miracle to behold! Be quiet in your mind, and listen to the sounds of the trees and birds and insects. Above all, try to find water to sit by for a few hours. Watch it and you will see an aspect of yourself in there – a small piece of a much larger whole. More than anything else, water is a lovely metaphor for how we as humans fit in to the universe, into All That Is. And it’s highly calming. ConclusionI would suggest that you take just a few minutes every single day to learn about How Special and How Powerful You Really Are, and you will be amazed at how much better you feel in just a short time.
